Captain John Hand

Welcome to Redfish Landing, located on the banks of the Little Manatee River in Ruskin, Florida.  Join this fourth generation Florida native and his wife Leslie for a unique fishing experience in an old Florida setting.

Capt. John has been fishing the Little Manatee River and the south shore of Tampa Bay since he was five years old.  His grandfather taught him fly fishing and light tackle and his father the art of castnetting.  The unique location of Redfish Landing affords the opportunity to catch Redfish, Snook, Tarpon, Shark, Speckled Trout, and Spanish Mackerel and Mangrove Snapper.

Capt.  John offers half day, full day, or night charters, which leave from our private dock on the Little Manatee River.  Fly Casting Instruction is available.  Whether you need help with a few pointers in saltwater casting, or have never used a fly rod before and would like to learn,  Capt. John enjoys introducing new anglers to the sport.  He has been tying his own flies for  20 years and likes to tie the flies he uses on his charters.  He would be glad to help you get started or share helpful hints on the subject of tying flies. We have gift certificates available for all our services.

We offer private accommodations and meals for one or two traveling anglers.  Our guests get to enjoy our dock, where you may encounter dolphin and manatees feeding and playing.  If you didn't get enough fishing with Capt. John you are welcome to fish off the dock.  Fishing gear and bait will be available for your use.  We have a kayak which you are welcome to use to explore the Little Manatee River.  If you need transportation from the local airport (Tampa International, St. Petersburg, Davis Island, or Sarasota Airports), we will be glad to meet your flight.  So come and join us for some great fishing and southern hospitality.
