Dr. Ben Estes (right) caught on a fly.
When Sue Estes contacted my wife Leslie, then Leslie notified me the girls wanted to meet in Savannah, GA. to do the “Savannah Holiday Home Tours” I thought, what a win, win situation.
I would have an opportunity to go fly fishing for redfish in Savannah with my friend Dr. Ben Estes and we would make our wives happy at the same time. Man was I surprised! What was I thinking? I had never been to Savannah in December. Being a Florida native, I make it a rule to go no further north than Ocala after Thanksgiving.
A front moved in the first day, low 45 degrees, high mid 50’s overcast all day. The second day, low 35, high 50 (they said but I don’ believe it got that warm), cloudy and windy all day. I’ve been to the Antarctic and wasn’t this cold.
I'm holding up a redfish I caught on fly
while guided by Capt. Wagner in SavannahDespite conditions, thanks to the knowledge, expertise, and PATIENCE of Capt Scott Wagner. Ben and I caught a few nice reds and actually had a wonderful time. Capt. Wagner performed above and beyond the call of duty and thanks to his efforts we had a successful trip.
Oh yes, the girls had a great time too. I actually love Savannah, next time I think I’ll go in
June!
