Versatility can turn a poor fishing day into a productive fishing adventure.
Rich and Gin Ford traveled from Bristol, England to join Leslie and I on Big Pine Key. Hopefully, to hook up on their first tarpon. We cast to some big boys on the oceanside only to be frustrated by their refusals.
They remained tight lipped ,so we changed strategy and moved to the back country. We immediately changed our luck. We cast to back country tarpon, 10# to 60 # for 4 days. We caught tarpon and black tip sharks on 8wt and 10wt gear. What a blast !
The fly of choice was an EP Tarpon Tapas black/purple.
